Read more here about the conditions for producing variety mixtures.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application for approval of variety mixtures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies wishing to produce variety mixtures of winter barley, winter wheat and winter rye for the 2026\/2027 season must complete an application form for approval of variety mixtures and send it to TystofteFonden. The application form must be received by TystofteFonden <strong>by 15 March 2026 at the latest<\/strong>.The diagrams can be found in Appendices A, B and C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The application deadline for 2026 has been extended to April 1st. The updated seed legislation has been published.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crop mixtures that have been approved in a previous season must also be listed on the form in the annex if they are to be produced in the 2026\/2027 season. TystofteFonden will subsequently issue a list of approved winter barley, winter wheat and winter rye crop mixtures for the 2026\/2027 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terms and conditions for seed mixtures of winter barley and winter wheat<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies wishing to produce variety mixtures must ensure that the mixtures meet the conditions set out in \u00a746 of the Seed Marketing Regulation, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The varieties in the variety mixture must be on the official Danish variety list or on the EU's common variety list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A mixture must contain 3 or 4 varieties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each variety must make up equal parts of the total weight of the mixture. TystofteFonden may, following a specific assessment, permit a batch of seed grain to be approved for sale in a different ratio if scientific or technical experience demonstrates that another composition is particularly suitable for limiting the spread of certain pests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When varieties are selected for the mixture, consideration must be given to the resistance of the varieties to the following plant diseases: powdery mildew, barley rust, scald, and leaf spot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>TystofteFonden, in collaboration with SEGES, tests the properties of varieties and annually sets a limit for how susceptible the variety mixtures may be to the mentioned diseases. The varieties are assigned a numerical value, expressing their susceptibility to diseases, and this number must be less than the set maximum if the varieties are to be included in variety mixtures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The set limit values for the average of the varieties that are to be included in a spring barley mix for sale in autumn 2026 are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Sort group<\/td><td>Report<\/td><td>Gulrust<\/td><td>Rust<\/td><td>Rust<\/td><td>Pestilence<\/td><td>Septoria<\/td><td>Leaf spot<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Winter barley<\/td><td>1,7<\/td><td>\u2013<\/td><td>3,6<\/td><td>\u2013<\/td><td>4,1<\/td><td>\u2013<\/td><td>1,4<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Winter wheat<\/td><td>4,1<\/td><td>0,9<\/td><td>\u2013<\/td><td>8,0<\/td><td>\u2013<\/td><td>7,7<\/td><td>\u2013<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When selecting varieties, consideration must also be given to the varieties' cultivation properties: core yield, tillering time and straw length. The requirements for the varieties' cultivation properties are in accordance with the statutory instrument:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>that the varieties used in a variety mixture each must have a grain yield ratio of at least 95, averaged over the last five years. For new varieties with fewer trial years, the ratio must be at least 97.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>that there must be a maximum difference of 5 days in the timing of bud burst for the varieties used.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>that there must be a difference of no more than 20 cm in stalk length between the varieties of winter barley and winter wheat used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How are colour mixtures approved?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals for variety mixtures that meet all conditions can be approved immediately after the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under \u00a746, stk. 5 af BEK nr. 1224 af 20\/10\/2025, kan sortsblandinger, der ikke opfylder alle krav, vurderes individuelt af TystofteFonden. Virksomheden skal derfor begrunde i ans\u00f8gningsskemaet, hvorfor blandingen b\u00f8r godkendes. Dette kan f.eks. v\u00e6re ved at henvise til sortenes specifikke, genetiske resistens over for sygdomme. Hvis der henvises til sortenes specifikke, genetiske resistens, vil der blive lagt v\u00e6gt p\u00e5, at de anvendte sorter har forskelligt resistensgrundlag. Begrundelsen vil indg\u00e5 i TystofteFondens vurdering af, om sortsblandingen kan godkendes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Which varieties meet the criteria for disease susceptibility?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Appendices 1 and 2 show the results from the trial of the varieties' properties in 2025, as well as which varieties have been shown through trial to comply with the limit value for disease susceptibility this season. In the far-left column, it is stated if a variety cannot be used, or if a variety mix cannot be approved, for example, due to too low yield or powdery mildew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terms for rye variety mixtures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wish to produce seed mixtures of hybrid rye and conventional rye, the mixture must contain at least 90% of the hybrid variety. In addition, the following conditions apply to seed mixtures containing rye:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The mixture must be registered with TystofteFonden, with the names of the varieties included in it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It must be apparent what percentage each individual variety makes up of the total mixture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mixtures of the same varieties with different weight contents must be notified separately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tystofte.dk.web08.webtohosting.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Bilag-A.-Ansoegningsskema-om-godkendelse-af-sortsblandinger-af-vinterhvede.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Appendix A.
