Seed mixtures

Certified batches of different varieties of the same species may, with the approval of TystofteFonden, be mixed and traded as varietal mixtures.

A mixture can be approved if scientific or technical experience has demonstrated that the mixture is particularly suitable for limiting the spread of certain pests. When composing a mixture, the cultivation characteristics of the varieties are also taken into account.

Mixtures must meet the set criteria in the current statutory instrument on seed, in order to be approved.

Applications for approval of variety mixtures must be submitted to TystofteFonden:

• no later than 15 March for cereal crop mixtures.

• by 20 October at the latest for spring cereal mixtures.

In particularly justified circumstances, companies can apply for and receive an exemption from the application deadline from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.

Mixtures may only be traded in the season for which they are approved.
